FOR couples planning their big day, the perfect wedding setting does not have to mean a long drive to the hinterland or an interstate getaway.

The Redlands and Brisbane’s Bayside offer an impressive mix of waterfront charm, leafy countryside, island scenery and welcoming local venues giving couples the chance to create a celebration that feels like a destination wedding while remaining close to family, friends and the city.

Along the foreshore, the Bayside’s marinas, parks and waterfront venues provide a natural backdrop for ceremonies.

At Manly’s Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, couples can celebrate beside the marina without sacrificing the convenience of keeping guests close by.

“The Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron is uniquely placed for couples dreaming of a waterfront wedding, with marina frontage, spacious lawns, versatile function spaces and on-site accommodation all in one location,” RQYS Marketing and Communications Manager Simone Hasker said.

“From intimate dining rooms to our glass-fronted ballroom, couples can create a celebration that feels personal while their guests enjoy the convenience and beauty of a bayside setting.”

Moreton Bay sunsets, sailing boats and sea breezes bring a relaxed coastal feel, while Manly, Wynnum, Cleveland and Redland Bay offer easy access for guests travelling from Brisbane and beyond.

For couples drawn to a more rural setting, Mount Cotton’s rolling countryside and vineyards create a completely different atmosphere just minutes from the Bay.

It is a setting made for long-table celebrations, beautiful photography and a wedding weekend that feels a world away from the everyday.

Then there are the islands.

North Stradbroke Island offers beachside ceremonies, dramatic headlands and bushland backdrops for couples wanting a more intimate and adventurous occasion.

A ferry journey adds to the sense of escape, turning a wedding day into a shared experience for guests.

The region also caters to every scale of celebration.

A large formal reception, a relaxed club gathering, an intimate restaurant wedding, a garden ceremony or a micro wedding with only a handful of loved ones can all be found locally.

That variety means couples can choose a venue that reflects their personalities, rather than trying to fit their day into a one-size-fits-all formula.

Practicality is another major advantage.

The Redlands and Bayside are close enough for guests to travel home after the celebrations yet have a growing range of nearby accommodation for those wishing to stay.

Local photographers, florists, celebrants, stylists, caterers, musicians and transport providers also make it easier for couples to keep their planning close to home.

Most of all, the area offers something wedding couples are often searching for – a sense of place.

Whether it is exchanging vows with the Bay in the background, celebrating beneath vineyard skies or gathering loved ones for an island weekend, the Redlands and Brisbane’s Bayside provide a memorable setting for the start of a new chapter.
