WHEN Craft Brewhouse won the community vote for best beer or bevvy by an absolute landslide, I knew I had to go and see what all the hype was about.
I’m not usually one to chase trends, but when a place wins by that much, you start to wonder if everyone else is in on something you’re not.
The visit began with a pint of the ginger beer on tap, a solid choice for anyone who prefers something lighter and spiced over traditional beer.
And honestly, it was lovely.
Refreshing, smooth, and with this intriguing little hint of something … star anise maybe?
Don’t quote me on that.
But there was a whisper of warm spice tucked in there.
I’d give it a solid 7/10; tasty, but I wouldn’t have complained if it packed a bit more heat.
I asked the bartender what her favourite cocktail was, and without hesitation, she said the spicy margarita.
Being honest, it was one of the more on-point margaritas I’ve had in a while.
The rim was coated in salt and chilli flakes, which was great unless you’re spice averse, in which case, maybe don’t lick the glass.
The drink itself? An 8.5/10.
Balanced, punchy, and something I would order again.
To keep myself from stumbling out into the night, I wrapped things up with a BBQ pizza which turned out to be delightfully smoky.
But what sealed the deal for me was the atmosphere.
At night the place was glowing with fairy lights, giving everything this warm, cosy charm.
Great decor, great crowd, and genuinely great energy.
Craft Brewhouse absolutely earned its votes.
Consider me impressed … and already planning my next spicy marg.
