The library and service centre will continue to operate out of Capalaba Place in Noeleen St until close of business on Friday, November 1.

They will reopen in Capalaba Central Shopping Centre on Monday, November 11, at the Woolworths end of the centre in the space previously held by Coles.

Mayor Jos Mitchell said the relocation was required for the start of a $250 million revitalisation project.

“The Capalaba Town Centre Revitalisation Project is set to transform the area behind Capalaba Central Shopping Centre into the urban heart of Capalaba,” Cr Mitchell said.

“Works on the first stage of this project are expected to start in early 2025 and will see a new state-of-the-art library building, community and innovative arts space and a new customer service centre, as well as three levels of office space.”

Redland City Council, in partnership with subsidiary Redland Investment Corporation (RIC) and preferred development partner Shayher Group, is delivering the urban renewal of the 1.55ha site.

During the planned closure, Capalaba Library customers are encouraged to visit one of the council’s other libraries or consider reserving library items for collection from the 24-7 library lockers located outside Cleveland Library.

The mobile library will be located near Capalaba Place on Saturday, November 2, and then again from Monday, November 4 to Saturday, November 9, returning to its usual schedule from Monday, November 11.
