THE Redlands Coast is preparing to transform into south-east Queensland’s ultimate outdoor playground as Redlands Coast AdventureFest launches this weekend with more than 100 experiences and events across the mainland and islands.
Presented by Redland City Council, the 10-day festival runs from Friday, May 15 to Sunday, May 24 and is expected to attract thousands of participants and spectators chasing adventure, nature, food and family-friendly experiences.
From mountain bike racing and triathlons to wildlife encounters, eco markets and waterfront lantern displays, the festival is designed to showcase the natural beauty and tourism appeal of the Redlands Coast region.
Major drawcards include the Straddie Salute Triathlon Festival on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), the Redlands Mountain Bike Rumble at Mount Cotton, and the AdventureFest Fun Day at Raby Bay Harbour Park featuring a jetpack water show, live music, food trucks and kids’ activities.
The festival will also include nature adventures, active experiences, gallery and museum tours, environmental events and food-focused activities spread across the bayside and islands.
Council says the festival is aimed at positioning the Redlands Coast as a premier destination for outdoor recreation and adventure tourism.
Among the headline events is the Brisbane Water Lantern Festival at Raby Bay Foreshore Park on May 23 and 24, where visitors will be invited to release illuminated lanterns carrying messages of hope, dreams and memories onto the bay at sunset.
AdventureFest will also feature the Environment and Community Fair and Eco Markets at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre in Capalaba, celebrating sustainability and community connection as part of World Environment Day activities.
Families and visitors will also be able to explore local culture and history through the Redlands Coast Gallery and Museum Hop, spanning 10 galleries and two museums across the mainland and islands.
Other activities include guided adventures with Ranger Stacey exploring King Island from Wellington Point.
Redland City Council says the festival offers opportunities for visitors to experience everything from adrenaline-fuelled sports to quieter wellness and nature experiences.
The Redlands Mountain Bike Rumble will feature both the Rocky Trail Academy Schools Competition and the Fox Superflow gravity enduro race across the Eastern Escarpment trails at Mount Cotton.
Meanwhile, the Straddie Salute Triathlon Festival is expected to again attract competitors from across Australia to one of the country’s most scenic triathlon courses.
