Redlands MP Rebecca Young says Round 2 of the Secure Communities Partnership Program is an opportunity for both Redland City Council and local small businesses to strengthen community safety with funding for CCTV, lighting, and security upgrades.
The $40 million program — part of the State Government’s Small and Family Business First Action Statement — is helping communities across Queensland prevent crime before it happens.
“Here in Redlands, we’ve already taken action to restore safety where you live — with tougher adult crime, adult time laws, Jack’s Law, Daniel’s Law to improve child safety, and expanded support for local police,” Mrs Young said.
“Now, through the Secure Communities Program, we can take the next step together — empowering councils and small businesses to make our precincts safer.”
Mrs Young encouraged Redland City Council to consider suitable projects for Round 2 and invited local businesses to explore opportunities to apply directly for funding once applications open.
“This is a great chance for all levels of government, business, and community to come together to make Redlands a safer place to live, work, and shop,” she said.
“Whether it’s new CCTV cameras, better lighting, or improved fencing, these upgrades make a real difference in deterring crime and helping police keep our community safe.
“To help bring the community together and target problem areas, the Secure Redlands Survey is now open to share your thoughts on where our community can benefit from better lighting, security and CCTV.”
