IT has been a golden run for Redlands cricket, with the club’s outstanding form over the past two months now rewarded at state level.
Four Tigers stars: Marnus Labuschagne, Jimmy Peirson, Jack Sinfield and James Bazley, have all earned selection for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield and One Day Cup competitions in the past month.
The selections highlight the depth and quality developing within the Redlands ranks, following an incredible stretch that has seen the club crowned T20 Max Premiers and reach the Queensland Premier Cricket One Day semi-final.
Allrounders Sinfield and Bazley have been in exceptional form to start the season and forced their way into the squads on form alone.
Both have made major contributions with bat and ball, consistently steering Redlands to victory.
Bazley’s powerful middle order batting and match-turning wicket hauls have been central to the Tigers’ recent dominance, while Sinfield’s composed run scoring and clever left arm spin have made him one of the competition’s most reliable performers.
Their call-ups to represent Queensland are well deserved and reflect the strong platform Redlands continues to provide for elite talent.
New 1st Grade coach Sam McNally said both players had earned their selection through hard work and consistency.
“Jack and James have both been outstanding for us this season,” McNally said. “It’s great to see their efforts recognised with Queensland selection, and it’s a proud moment for everyone at the club.”
Their elevation adds to the proud record of Redlands producing and developing top level cricketers, with Queensland and Australian representative Labuschagne now back in career-best form heading into the Ashes, and Bulls stalwart
Peirson also continuing to fly the Tigers flag at state and national levels.
Redlands is hoping this early season form translates now into their red ball competition.
