Redland Investment Corporation Drives City Growth

Redland Investment Corporation (RIC) has delivered key milestones across several of the city’s major development projects over the past financial year, continuing its focus on driving economic growth, infrastructure investment and placemaking on the Redlands Coast.

As outlined in Redland City Council’s 2024–2025 Annual Report, the Council-owned corporation has been instrumental in progressing the Weinam Creek and Toondah Harbour Priority Development Areas (PDAs), along with the Capalaba Town Centre Revitalisation Project.

During 2024–2025, RIC delivered several major achievements at Weinam Creek, including:

  • the completion of 122 new car parks within two temporary parking facilities on Hamilton Street, Redland Bay to support construction of the new Marina Redland Bay project;
  • the completion of two new bus stops on Meissner Street to service the Redlands Satellite Health Centre; and
  • the official opening of a new three-lane recreational boat ramp with a floating pontoon at the southern end of Weinam Creek, easing congestion and reserving the existing ramp for emergency services.

The corporation also continued extensive community engagement throughout the precinct, providing updates, meetings and pop-up information sessions, while supporting Council’s successful advocacy for a new multi-level car park, to be delivered by the Queensland Government.

At Capalaba, RIC worked closely with preferred development partner Shayher Group to progress the next stages of the town centre revitalisation.

This included the relocation of Council’s Capalaba Library to Capalaba Central and demolition of the former library building, paving the way for future development.

Meanwhile, RIC continued to provide project management and administrative support to Council for the Toondah Harbour PDA, as development partner Walker Group refined alternative plans for the waterfront precinct.

RIC, a wholly owned commercial subsidiary of Council, describes itself as an “innovative, responsible and sustainable” organisation that balances financial returns with community and environmental outcomes.

Its mission is to grow the Redlands Coast economy by facilitating development, business opportunities and local jobs, while managing projects that deliver long-term value for the community.
