MORE than 1400 people have had their say on the future of the Wynnum, Manly and Lota foreshores as Brisbane City Council works on a 20-year master plan to rejuvenate the popular bayside destination.

Council has now closed the initial stage of community engagement and will use the feedback to develop a draft master plan, due for release next year.

Wynnum Manly Ward Councillor Alex Givney said the survey results showed just how much locals valued the bayside environment, with 87 per cent of respondents being residents from the area.

“Spaces like the Wynnum, Manly and Lota foreshores create more to see and do in our suburbs and add to Brisbane’s unbeatable lifestyle,” Cr Givney said.

“Thank you to the more than 1400 people who gave their feedback on the future of our foreshore.

“From the initial survey results, we know residents value our beautiful bayside environment and think it’s the perfect place for socialising.

“We received a host of exciting suggestions covering everything from parking to breathing new life into our beloved Wynnum Wading Pool, all while preserving the natural beauty of the bayside.

“All of these elements will be considered as we work towards releasing the draft master plan next year.”

The top three reasons people said they visited the foreshore were to walk, picnic and socialise, and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Cr Givney said all community feedback would be considered as Council worked towards releasing the draft master plan in 2026.

“I am excited to work with Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and our residents on the next chapter of our foreshore as we make it even better for generations to come,” she said.

Residents will have another opportunity to have their say once the draft master plan is released.
