The community is digging deep to raise money for Andrew Field after the father of three was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer in May.
Contributions to a Go Fund Me page set up to support Andrew, his wife Nicole and their children have already passed $69,000 thanks to the generosity of more than 700 donors.
Domino’s stores at Mount Cotton, Redland Bay, Victoria Point, Cleveland, Capalaba, Birkdale, Wynnum West and Manly West will join the fundraising efforts this month.
The stores will run a ‘Raise Some Dough’ campaign on Wednesday, June 28 where $1 from every pizza sold between 11am and closing time will be donated to the family.
The money will help ease the financial burden for Andrew and his wife as he goes through chemotherapy and other treatments.
Friends have also promised to help with landscaping and other works at the family’s new Lockyer Valley home as they prepare to move in over the coming weeks.
The Go Fund Me page has received hundreds of donations in the first month since it was launched and is now just $1000 short of the $70,000 target.
Andrew has been diagnosed with stage four Glioblastoma, which is the most common form of brain cancer in adults.
He has undergone surgery, which was successful in removing as much of the tumour as possible from his frontal lobe, and is now going through chemotherapy treatment.
Andrew’s father Russell Field said the family were staying positive.
“The doctor said to him ‘it’s not curable but it’s treatable’,” he said.
“He is always lethargic and tired, and they did say the third week of radiation would be the worst.
“He has a couple of things going for him. He is young and fit and his mental toughness is also a plus.
“All we can do is play it by ear, week by week.”
The community has shown incredible support for the Field family over the past few years, including after the tragic loss of Matt, his partner Kate Leadbetter and their unborn son Miles on Australia Day in 2021.
