WYNNUM Wolves celebrated a trifecta of senior victories across the weekend with the NPL Men, NPL U23s and FQLP Women all putting their opposition to the sword with impressive wins.

The women’s team bounced back from a disappointing loss to Tarragindi Tigers midweek to put Rochedale Rovers away 5-0 at Carmichal Park on Saturday afternoon.

After goals eluded them midweek, the women were back to their attacking best on Saturday, including a first half brace from in-form winger Lara Randles.

That was followed by second half contributions from team stalwarts, striker Shanaee Noonan and captain Nat Wemyss, and young gun Hanna Shearer.

Now sitting third on the ladder, the women will face another tough midweek assignment this week against fourth-placed North Lakes before taking on Toowong at home on Saturday.

At St George Willawong on Sunday, Wynnum’s NPL U23s set the scene with a dominant 4-0 win over the home team in what was the curtain-raiser to an impressive 4-1 away victory for the Wolves’ NPL Men – their first under new coach Graham Harvey.

Never an easy away game for any team in the league on St George’s small and narrow pitch, the Wolves men were in an attacking frame of mind from the outset on Sunday evening, with their sustained offensive pressure netting two first-half goals from defender Russell Parker and livewire attacker Lucas Martins.

Wolves’ dished up more of the same when they returned after the break, with a penalty from Jez Lofthouse and a boomer from Zach Maltby wrapping up a crucial away win for Wolves who look to be finding a new groove under the astute coaching of Harvey, who is demanding an attacking mindset.
