IT’S been a great few weeks for the multisport members of Redlands Cycling and Multisport Club (RCMC).

But it’s been a challenge for RCMC coach Kelly Phuah, with triathletes tapering for racing at the Gold Coast, others building for the Ironman at Port Macquarie and some on a recovery week after competing in the recent Mooloolaba Triathlon.

Despite this, RCMC had good representation at the National Sprint Triathlon Championships on the Gold Coast last weekend.

“It was a ripper of a morning – a little windy but a beautiful day,” Phuah said.

Bronwyn Williams, Bridget Copeland, Stuart Kemp, Linda Meredith, Kai Haynes and Phuah herself raced the sprint distance, which is 750m swim, 20km ride and 5km run.

Meredith, Phuah and Haynes are the new 2025 Australian Sprint Champions in their respective age groups. They are now focused on the 2025 World Age Group Championships in Wollongong later this year.

Congratulations to Kemp and Copeland for their top 10 performances.

At the recent Mooloolaba Triathlon, Kate Gayner secured her place in the Australian AG Aquabike team with her top-five finish in the Standard distance Aquabike. (minus the swim due to water quality issues.)

Michael Pelka had a strong race in the Standard Tri finishing eighth in a stacked field, and Phuah hung on for first in her age group to add more points to her campaign for a spot on Team Australia.
