Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce FINANCIAL assistance is now available for small and family businesses impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred to help with recovery.
Grants and low-interest loans have been activated for businesses in affected local government areas, including Brisbane, Bundaberg, Fraser Coast, Gold Coast, Gympie, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay, Noosa, Redland, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Southern Downs, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba.
Businesses can apply for grants of up to $25,000 to assist with clean-up and recovery.
These funds can be used for purchasing equipment and materials, hiring tradespeople for safety inspections, repairing buildings, replacing essential stock, disposing of damaged goods, repairing fencing and equipment, and salvaging crops and livestock.
To support cash flow, an initial application for $5000 can be made based on estimates or quotes.
Once this is used, further funding can be applied for, provided receipts or invoices are submitted to show how the initial funds were spent.
Rural landholders or lessees with at least 10 hectares who sustained direct damage but do not qualify for other Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) assistance can apply for grants of up to $10,000 for similar recovery efforts.
Low-interest loans are also available to eligible businesses.
Disaster Assistance Loans of up to $250,000 can be used to repair or replace damaged equipment, buildings, and stock.
Essential Working Capital Loans of up to $100,000 can cover immediate operational costs, including wages, rent and creditor payments.
To qualify, businesses must have held an Australian Business Number (ABN) at the time of the disaster, be in a disaster-affected area, and have sustained direct physical damage.
Applicants must provide evidence, such as photos or videos, and confirm their intention to re-establish their business in the area.
This support, delivered under the DRFA, aims to help businesses recover quickly. Business owners are encouraged to check eligibility and apply through the disaster recovery web portal or their local council website.
