AFTER suffering a tough 2-0 defeat at home to the Gold Coast Knights last weekend, the Wynnum Wolves are determined to get their first points of the 2025 season as they head into their away match against Lions FC this Saturday.
Despite a resilient performance, the Wolves were unable to break down the Knights, and their search for a positive result continues.
The match at Carmichael Park last Saturday proved a challenging one for the Wolves, who were hoping to recover from their opening-round loss.
Though they showed plenty of fight, the Knights’ quality ultimately proved the difference.
Max Brown scored twice for the visitors, with his header just before half-time breaking the deadlock, and a stoppage-time strike sealing the win.
To make matters worse, the Wolves were reduced to 10 men in the 82nd minute after Lucas Martins received a red card, leaving them with little chance to stage a late comeback.
Despite promising moments from the home side, the numerical disadvantage proved too difficult to overcome.
However, the Wolves aren’t dwelling on the defeat.
They remain focused on improving their performance and turning things around, starting with their upcoming match against Lions FC.
The squad knows they will need to be sharper defensively and more clinical in front of goal to get a result against a strong Lions team.
They will be hoping to channel their resilience from last weekend’s encounter and build on the positive moments they showed, all while avoiding the mistakes that led to their downfall.
The season may be young, but every point counts, and the Wolves will be doing everything in their power to start their campaign in earnest when they face Lions FC.
