THE HOME of the mighty Redlands Tigers is set for an exciting transformation thanks to a $1.1 million funding pledge from Federal Member for Bowman Henry Pike should an LNP government be elected this year.

The commitment promises to deliver much-needed upgrades to training and playing facilities at EGW Wood Sports fields at Wellington Point, ensuring the Tigers continue to be a cricketing powerhouse for years to come.

“The Redlands has a rich history of cricket success and a strong pipeline of talent coming through the ranks,” Mr Pike said.

“With cricket set to be included in the 2032 Olympics, this funding is a significant step toward turning the venue into an Olympic training hub and a potential site for T20 games.”

The transformative investment would build on groundwork already laid through the SEQ City Deal, which has delivered lighting upgrades.

A new women’s changeroom and bathroom block will also be delivered at the Ron Field Oval after a commitment from the newly elected Coalition State Government.

However, the growing demand for cricket facilities in the region highlights the critical need for enhanced training infrastructure to support the club’s expansion vision.

The redevelopment of Tigers’ Peter Burge Oval has been identified by Cricket Australia as a national priority to grow women’s participation in the sport.

This funding would fast-track the venue’s evolution into a state-of-the-art facility for both grassroots and elite cricket.

“This commitment is a win for community sport, offering Redlanders more opportunities to stay active, increase their skills, and grow our local community club,” Mr Pike said.

Redlands Cricket president Sean Lloyd has welcomed the commitment.

“As president and a passionate supporter of cricket, I can’t thank Henry enough,” Mr Lloyd said.

“In line with Redlands Cricket strategic planning, Henry Pike and the Dutton Coalition have provided a genuine commitment for competitive options in hosting community and pathway carnivals, training camps for elite teams coming to Brisbane and significant opportunities for the 2032 Olympics.”
