Redlands community groups planning activities for Queensland Seniors Month in October can apply for Redland City Council funding to support age-friendly events and initiatives.

Mayor Karen Williams said the Redlands Coast Seniors Month Funding Program aligned with the overarching state-wide Seniors Month theme of “social connections”.

“Seniors living in the region contribute enormously to our beautiful Redlands Coast, and Council developed our Redlands Coast Age-Friendly Action Plan 2021-2026 specifically to support this valued cohort of residents,” Cr Williams said.

“Bringing our older residents together helps to create and maintain long-standing connections and friendships and has a positive impact on our community wellbeing by reducing loneliness and isolation, and supporting healthy, active lifestyles.

“Seniors bring a diverse range of experiences, lifestyles, cultures and interests to their local neighbourhoods, and these factors are important influences on wellbeing and quality of life as we age.

Grants of $500 up to $2000 from a total budget of $8000 are available for this year’s Seniors Month Funding Program.

Applications close at 5pm on Sunday, June 18, 2023.
