The RSPCA has announced they have volunteer roles available in every avenue of their organisation.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is a charity with a mission – “together we change lives”, whether that be for animals, or people of the community.

The community-based charity helps rehome thousands of displaced animals every year, rescue, treat and rehabilitate wildlife to get them back out into the wild, with Community Outreach services helping people that may be struggling with their pets.

An RSPCA spokesman said that the organisation frequently encountered various common issues related to animal welfare.

“Every year we respond to over 15,000 animal welfare complaints, whether that be animals without food, water, shelter, left in the heat or abandoned, the list is endless that our inspectors investigate,” he said.

“Our Rescue Team also responds to sick and injured animals in the community via our 1300ANIMAL hotline.”

The RSPCA organization relies heavily on volunteers, whose crucial role is instrumental in making these services possible.

RSPCA operates with approximately 450 paid staff and more than 2000 volunteers who cover a range of roles in the organisation.

RSPCA volunteer Camille said while it may sound like a cliché, her deep affection for animals and Australian wildlife motivated her to become a volunteer at the organization.

“I love coming in every week and feeling like I am helping the team and the animals,” she said.

RSPCA spokesman said that volunteer roles were available in almost every avenue of the organisation – animal care, wildlife, op shops and retail, driving, animal rescue, foster carers, community outreach, education, events and so many more.

“We advertise all opportunities on our website so if you are interested in volunteering, please head there to see what’s available in your area,” he said.

“Without the continued support of our valued volunteers and foster carers, RSPCA Queensland would not be able to help over 42,000 animals that come into our care every year.”
