Redland Hospital is extending an invitation to primary school children to participate in the “Name the Crane” contest for the Redland Hospital Expansion project.

After the introduction of “Carrie the Crane”, bayside children are once again encouraged to showcase their creativity by coming up with a name for Redland Hospital’s latest crane.

Bayside Health Service executive director Greg Nolan said the 30-metre crane had been installed recently as part of the $77.9 million Redland Hospital Expansion Project.

“We’re inviting primary school aged children in the bayside area to come up with a name for the tower crane that is building our new inpatient facilities,” he said.

“The competition is a fun way for the community to get involved in the hospital’s expansion.”

Mr Nolan said the expansion would deliver a new two-storey building which would include 37 additional beds and an ICU.

“The winners will have their chosen name displayed on the crane for the duration of the project and receive prizes sponsored by the project’s managing contractor ADCO,” he said.

To participate, visit metrosouth.health.qld.gov.au.

The top five entries will be posted on the Metro South Health Facebook page for the community to vote. Entries close at 5pm on Friday, November 17.
