The Island Vibe Festival returns to Home Beach on Minjerribah for three days of world music and workshops from October 27 to 29.
Director Morgyn Quinn said he was thrilled to be back and offer a full and varied program.
“I am looking forward to setting it up, turning the music on and dancing,” he said.
This year’s line-up features a host of national and local acts.
Scientist aka Hopeton Overton Brown is a protege of King Tubby and rose to fame in the 1980s mixing dub music.
He has since produced more than 50 albums. He will be playing a set of originals and dubbing out an all-star island Vibe ensemble.
Hailing from the UK, Marla Brown is the daughter of the Crown Prince of Reggae, the late Jamaican star Dennis Brown.
Art and music may be in her blood, but Marla is a reggae artist in her own right, having released two albums and a swag of singles.
She will be performing with Bristol DJ/Producer Chris Munky from Banana Bombs Records.
Joining them on the mainstage are Sydney’s soul jazz quartet The Vampires, Byron Bay’s world, funk and house outfit Sai Galaxxy, Minjerribah’s soul poet Sachém (full band show) and others.
Island Vibe will feature the 4’20 live music stage, the Sound System stage (Hex Sound System), a workshop stage, healing stalls and a food and craft market.
Island Vibe is a family friendly event and is free for children 12 and under and offers discount tickets for local 4183 postcode and Cleveland residents.
In order to create less impact on the community and surrounds, Island Vibe will be scaled back this year with only 1000 tickets available to patrons.
Tickets are $249 for a three-day pass, $179 for a weekend pass and $89 and $99 for single day passes.
Camping packages are available for $99 and include transport via four-wheel drive.
