SOME holidays stay with you long after you return home, and my April 2026 journey from Singapore to Japan with Royal Caribbean was one of those adventures that reminded me why I love travel.

Departing from Singapore aboard Ovation of the Seas, I was excited to experience a holiday that combined incredible destinations, time to relax and the excitement of discovering somewhere new each day.

One of the things I loved about cruising was how effortlessly the journey unfolded.

There was no need to constantly pack and unpack, organise transport between destinations or worry about where to eat each evening.

Our ship became our home away from home, carrying us to the next adventure while offering plenty to enjoy along the way.

The itinerary offered a wonderful introduction to Asia, from the vibrant energy of Hong Kong to the cultural contrasts of Taipei, each stop brought something different.

Exploring these destinations offered opportunities to experience local traditions, discover fascinating streets and markets, and sample delicious regional cuisine.

Arriving in Japan was a highlight.

Nagasaki’s fascinating history and blend of cultural influences made it particularly memorable while Kobe offered a different atmosphere with its waterfront charm, mountain scenery and renowned food culture.

The opportunity to visit Shimizu, with the possibility of seeing magnificent Mount Fuji, was another exciting part of the journey.

Each destination gave me another reason to appreciate just how diverse and rewarding this part of the world can be.

Of course, the destinations were only half the experience.

Royal Caribbean made the days at sea just as enjoyable as the days ashore.

With varied dining options, entertainment, activities and inviting spaces to unwind, there was always something to do, or the perfect excuse to do absolutely nothing.

My biggest recommend-ation? If your budget allows, consider booking a balcony stateroom.

For me, having a private outdoor space added another dimension to a cruise holiday.

Imagine enjoying your morning coffee with the ocean stretching out before you, feeling the sea breeze or simply watching the changing scenery as you sail towards your next destination.

Those quieter moments can become some of the most memorable parts of the trip.

Returning home, I was reminded that cruising is about so much more than getting from one place to another.

It’s about enjoying the journey as much as the destinations, discovering new cultures and making memories along the way.

For anyone dreaming of exploring Asia, a Royal Caribbean cruise from Singapore to Japan is certainly worth considering.

And if you can stretch to a balcony, I believe it’s a wonderful way to make the experience even more special.
