MAINTENANCE works to improve navigable depths at Toondah Harbour and One Mile at Dunwich are underway, with completion expected by the end of the month.
The State Government and Redland City Council are partnering on bed-levelling works to redistribute naturally accumulated sand and silt in the waterways.
The work is intended to create a more consistent channel profile, address high spots and shoaling, and improve access for recreational and commercial vessels.
Maritime Safety Queensland has begun the works at Cleveland’s Toondah Harbour with that stage expected to be completed soon.
Works at One Mile, Dunwich, on North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah), are also planned.
Safe access will remain a priority during the project, with traffic management and safety measures to be used to manage vessel movements and minimise disruption.
All works are expected to be finished by late October, subject to weather and site conditions.
The project is being carried out under Maritime Safety Queensland approvals and environmental requirements with the aim of supporting the long-term operation of local maritime infrastructure.
