Redland City FC has wrapped up a successful season by securing the title of Football Queensland’s Metro Community Club of the Year.

Club president Tim Eady said the recognition was reward for everyone involved in the club.

“This reward is a team effort not just from our hard-working committee but also the players, coaches, managers and parents,” he said.

Eady said Redland City had put focus on the word “community” since the club started.

“We have been trying ever since we started to provide the opportunity for everyone in our local community to play the game,” he said.

“No matter your age or skill level, we try to make sure we can provide that avenue for you to get involved and come down.”

Coming off two premiership wins from the division 7 and division 8 teams, Eady said another highlight of the season was the club’s new canteen.

“The canteen really helped us with the fundraising for the club which was a great success,” he said.

“The canteen has also strengthened our community spirit by providing a weekly opportunity for our members to partake in a sausage sizzle.”

Eady said he was thrilled to have a season uninterrupted by COVID and wet weather.

“Being a new club and only being in our fourth year, to get the season completed on schedule was a good note for us and allowed us to have a good run on,” he said.

With the 2023 season completed, Eady said his attention now turned to next season, with registrations kicking off in November.

“At the back of the Women’s World Cup we have seen an interest via our social media, so I am expecting our club numbers to increase again next year,” he said.
