Australian Seniors are getting left behind in an increasingly technology-driven world. People aged 65 and over are among the least digitally included groups in Australia, according to The Australian Digital Inclusion Index 2020.

Low levels of digital inclusion for older Australians increase the risks of social isolation and loneliness.

“The Tech Smart Expo is for all older adults to get some useful, practical tips on using technology safely – in a friendly, interactive, social environment. Come along and bring a friend,” said Neha Shukla, coordinator of STAR Tech – a technology program for Redlands Coast seniors.

The Tech Smart Seniors Info Day and Expo, to be held on October 4, is an initiative of STAR Community Services and supported by Redland City Council.

Visitors can also attend information sessions on online safety, connecting to the library online, technology training program in Redlands Coast and how to make the most of internet.

At this social and informative event, seniors can get first-hand information from experts on various topics such as how to make the most of their digital device, what’s new in technology, online safety, connect to their local library online and more.

The event is a part of the Queensland Seniors Month celebrations and will be held at Redlands RSL, 8 Passage St, Cleveland on October 4 from 9.30am-12pm.

Entry is free but bookings are essential, as numbers are limited. For more information, call STAR on 3821 6699.
