Redland City Football Club have wrapped up the 2023 season on a high after claiming two premierships.
The community club has recently ended their 18-week season with two of their senior teams securing premierships and their junior teams narrowly missing out on finals.
Club president Tim Eady said he was proud of all the players as he reflected on the 2023 season.
“I am very excited and super pleased with our results this season, especially with our two grand final victories,” he said.
Redland City FC came away with two premierships under their belt from both the division seven and eight Metro Men’s teams.
Eady said the division seven team had taken a big step since last year, where they finished mid-table in division eight.
“After last season, the guys got together early on and trained hard and well and ultimately laid the platform for the team throughout the season,” he said.
The team swept out the competition and remained undefeated throughout the entire 18 weeks.
The division eight team had a stumble in the middle of the season but bounced back to secure a spot in the finals.
“The boys impressed me and played some quality football whilst serving up a cracking game to watch,” Eady said.
He said this year player numbers at the club had skyrocketed with a total of 350 members across all age groups compared to only 40 members when the club was established in 2020.
“We went from 210 to 293 players this year in our under eights to senior teams and have had approximately 60 kids for each term of our under-five and under-seven term programs,” Eady said.
“To be four years down the track and have 350 members is just incredibly significant.”
He said that the increasing player numbers and season results were a reflection of the club’s hard work over the past four years.
“We have a dedicated group of seven committee members that have put in a lot of hours to not only set up the club but also continue the ethos of being a true community-based club,” Eady said.
The club will be running an open registration for next season at the end of November. Details will be posted on Facebook.
