CHANGES: Redland City Council has introduced new closing times for its mainland waste centres at Birkdale and Redland Bay.

New closing times have been introduced for mainland recycling and waste centres at Birkdale and Redland Bay.

The new hours, which took effect on September 1, will be 7am to 4.30pm every day, with last vehicle entry from 4.15pm.

The change means the mainland centres will remain open for 9.5 hours each day, except Good Friday and Christmas Day when they will be closed.

The earlier close time follows a review that showed the number of visits between 4.30pm and 5pm was very low.

There is no change to hours for island recycling and waste centres.

Visitors to the centres can save time by

  • Planning your visit – save time by separating and sorting materials correctly before arriving.
  • Maximising your load – try to hold off visiting until you have a full load.
  • Putting your wheelie bins to good use – smaller, lighter loads can be managed through your kerbside bin service, including an optional kerbside green waste collection with multiple bins allowed.
