PARENTS, carers and educators are being urged to build their confidence around online safety at a free Tech Savvy Tech Safe Forum in Alexandra Hills.
Redland City Council is hosting the event with assistance from Queensland Police Service to help adults recognise and respond to risks young people can face online.
The forum will cover signs of online child sexual exploitation, sexual ex- tortion, grooming, cyberbullying, privacy, consent, self-generated content and inappropriate contact.
Industry experts from Queensland Police, the Australian Federal Police’s ThinkUKnow program, Centre Against Sexual Violence, Kids Helpline and Parentline will share practical advice.
The Tech Savvy Tech Safe Forum will be held at Alexandra Hills Hotel and Conference Centre, 332 Finucane Rd, Alexandra Hills, on September 9.
Light refreshments will be available from 5pm, with the forum running from 5.30-7.30pm.
