REDLANDS Toastmasters Club has celebrated a major milestone, marking its 1000th meeting with a glittering night of reflection at Redlands RSL Club, Cleveland.
Past and present members joined Area Director Valu Lale, Eastern Division Director Fawzia Batty and former District Governor Di Riddell for the celebration, 41 years after the club was chartered in May 1985.
The “Grand Affair” transformed the RSL meeting room with balloons, streamers and a wall of photographs documenting generations of members and the club’s journey.
The evening featured speeches ranging from humorous to inspiring, alongside impromptu Table Topics focused on celebration and reflection.
Ms Riddell praised the club’s camaraderie, and the encouragement members offer one another as they develop their speaking skills and confidence.
“It is so rewarding to observe a new member grow in confidence as well as their speaking skills,” a club spokesperson said.
Redlands Toastmasters offers members a supportive environment to practise public speaking, leadership and communication skills, while making meetings enjoyable and accessible.
Toastmasters International founder Dr Ralph C Smedley’s philosophy – that people “learn best in moments of enjoyment” – remained central to the anniversary night.
The club now meets at Redlands RSL Club, Cleveland, on the second, fourth and fifth Mondays of each month from 7.15-9.30pm.
