THERE is something special about Diwali, the Festival of Lights.
From the beautiful traditional clothing and vibrant colours to the music, dancing, food and welcoming atmosphere, it’s a celebration that brings people together.
As the Redlands Coast prepares to celebrate Diwali in 2026, it’s another wonderful opportunity to experience different cultures, build friendships and celebrate the diversity of our community.
Diwali celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
Its message of hope, kindness and togetherness is something everyone can appreciate.
One of the great things about living and working on the Redlands Coast is the opportunity to experience cultures and traditions outside our usual circles.
You don’t need to know every tradition or understand every aspect of Diwali to get involved.
Just turn up with an open mind, enjoy the food, colour and celebrations, and perhaps learn something new.
And if there’s ever an occasion to dress up, embrace the colour and immerse yourself in another culture, this is it.
Beyond the festivities, cultural celebrations also create opportunities for local businesses, encouraging conversations, building trust and opening doors to new partnerships.
With India’s growing economy and strengthening ties with Australia, opportunities are emerging across education, clean energy, advanced manufacturing, technology and other industries.
For Redlands Coast businesses, these relationships can lead to knowledge sharing, trade opportunities and lasting partnerships.
Some of the best friendships, conversations and opportunities come from simply stepping outside what we’re familiar with.
