A COLLECTION of artworks from artists of national and international reputation is making its way to Macleay Island as part of a new exhibition.

Not All Roads Lead to Rome will feature 25 two-dimensional and three-dimensional works, bringing a diverse collection of art to the island community.

Presented at the Macleay Island Arts Complex (MIAC), the exhibition will give residents and visitors the chance to experience a variety of artistic works without having to make the trip to the mainland.

The exhibition’s unusual title is likely to spark curiosity, leaving audiences to draw their own connections between the individual works and the collection.

The collection’s mix of 2D and 3D pieces will provide visitors with an opportunity to explore different forms of visual art within the one exhibition.

For the Southern Moreton Bay Islands community, exhibitions such as this also provide another way for locals to engage with arts and culture within their own backyard.

The Sandpiper Gallery forms part of the Macleay Island Arts Complex.

This arrival of the now-open exhibition will see that space filled with a collection representing artists whose reputations extend beyond the local community.

While its title might suggest that there is one traditional destination, the exhibition instead brings together different works and artistic approaches.

The exhibition officially opened at the Sandpiper Gallery on August 19 and will continue until September 20.

With 25 works to explore, Not All Roads Lead to Rome offers another reason for art lovers across the Redlands and Southern Moreton Bay Islands to visit Macleay Island and discover what is on display.
