SKY News Australia has officially become News24, marking the biggest change to the 24-hour news channel since it launched more than three decades ago.

The rebrand took effect last week across television, streaming and digital platforms, with the network retaining its familiar programming and high-profile presenters while introducing a refreshed identity.

Among the few programming changes is the launch of Early First Edition, a new weekday bulletin airing from 5am.

The program debuts this week as part of an expanded morning schedule, with AM Agenda also extended to a three-hour format from 9am.

Political reporter and anchor Julia Bradley confirmed via LinkedIn that she will co-host Early First Edition on Mondays and Tuesdays alongside Holly Stearnes, while continuing her role covering federal politics.

Despite the new name, viewers will see little change to the channel’s established line-up. Flagship programs including Credlin, The Bolt Report, Paul Murray Live and Outsiders will all continue, along with presenters Peter Stefanovic, Peta Credlin, Andrew Bolt and Paul Murray.

News Corp says the rebrand forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen its multi-platform news offering through an upgraded digital presence, expanded streaming products and international growth.

The move also follows the reported expiry of the company’s long-standing licence to use the Sky News name.
Sky, owned by US media giant Comcast, is understood to have declined to renew the branding agreement.
