REDLANDS cycling has a new reason to celebrate, with 15-year-old Siena Goulding earning selection for the Queensland U17 Girls team at the 2026 Junior Road National Championships.
AusCycling confirmed the squad last week, placing the Redlands Cycling and Multisport Club standout among the State’s top emerging talents ahead of the Sunshine Coast titles in September.
For the Redlands community, Siena’s selection feels like the rise of a future national star happening right in our own backyard.
Now training and racing across Brisbane and Redlands, she has quickly become one of the region’s most exciting young athletes, blending raw power with a calm, tactical racing style well beyond her years.
Siena said the moment she received her selection letter was one she’ll never forget.
“I was excited to be selected to represent Queensland,” she said.
“At my age, representing Queensland is the highest level you can achieve, so it’s one of my main goals every season.
“It’s something I’ve worked hard towards, so getting my selection letter was an awesome moment.
“I can’t wait to race alongside such a strong Queensland team and give my best at the National Championships.”
Her journey hasn’t been without challenges.
“The biggest challenge this season was definitely my crash at the Goulburn Junior Tour,” she said.
“I suffered a concussion and my bike was destroyed… it taught me the importance of being patient and trusting the recovery process.
“I’m making good progress and I’m confident I’ll be ready to perform at the National Championships.”
Originally from Cairns, Goulding’s sporting path began with athletics, swimming and cycling before she committed fully to the bike.
That decision has paid off.
She is the current Australian National Record Holder in the U15 Individual Pursuit (2000m) and the reigning Australian U15 National Time Trial Champion.
Her ability to dominate both track and road sets her apart in a field where most specialise early.
Her father Clinton Goulding said watching her growth has been “incredibly rewarding”.
“Representing Queensland is a significant milestone … this is just one step in her journey as she continues chasing her dream of representing Australia on the world stage,” he said.
For Redlands locals who have watched her train on familiar roads, Siena’s selection is more than a sporting milestone, it’s a community triumph.
At the Nationals, she’ll carry not just Queensland colours, but the pride of a region keen to see how far her talent can take her.
