PLANNING a holiday has never been easier, with countless deals available online.

Yet a recent customer survey from Helloworld Travel Capalaba and Carindale shows many travellers still value the reassurance and expertise that comes from speaking with an experienced consultant when organising an important trip.

The survey included travellers heading to destinations worldwide – from European river cruises and Antarctica to Japan, Africa and The Middle East.

Despite the variety of journeys, one theme stood out.

Personalised service remains a major reason customers choose to book through a local travel agency.

Jane, 64, who booked a European river cruise through Helloworld Travel Capalaba, said the number of options initially felt overwhelming.

Meeting with a consultant helped her confidently choose the itinerary that suited her interests.

Meanwhile, Annette, 70, who arranged her Canada and Alaska holiday through Helloworld Travel Carindale, appreciated having someone explain travel options and guide her through the booking process.

Travellers with complex itineraries also found professional assistance invaluable.

Bruce, 52, who booked his China adventure, and Jo, 32, who planned her South American holiday, both said expert help with visas, flights and multi-country planning removed the uncertainty.

Paul, 58, who booked an Antarctica expedition, valued advice on comparing cruise operators.

Families and first-time travellers echoed similar sentiments.

Mary, 44, who booked a family trip to Japan, said recommendations on accommodation and transport simplified planning.

Maddison, 22, who arranged a Contiki Europe tour, felt reassured having someone explain details that online sites couldn’t.

Other respondents highlighted the confidence that comes from dealing with experienced consultants.

Bill, 82, valued discussing his Ghan journey in person, while Rachel, 24, and Shaun, 60, said tailored advice improved knowledge of insurance, tours and destinations.

Across all responses, the message was clear.

While online booking is convenient, personalised guidance still plays an important role.
