STAR Community Services has marked a major milestone in its 30-year history, securing a permanent headquarters in the heart of Cleveland.
It is a move local leaders say will strengthen support for some of the Redlands’ most vulnerable residents.
The organisation has purchased 41-43 Wynyard St, giving STAR what CEO Patsy Wilshire describes as its “forever home” after decades of operating across multiple sites.
The new base will allow STAR to expand services for seniors and people with disabilities, many of whom rely on the charity for transport, social connection and daily living support.
Ms Wilshire said the acquisition represented far more than a property purchase.
“This is a transformational moment for STAR,” she said.
“Having a permanent, purpose-driven space allows us to expand our services, deepen our impact and create a stronger sense of belonging for the people we support.”
The Cleveland location was chosen for its accessibility and proximity to essential services, making it easier for clients, many with mobility challenges, to reach the help they need.
The new facility will also provide room for additional programs, volunteer training and community partnerships.
“For years, we have worked across multiple Redlands locations to meet growing demand,” Ms Wilshire said. “This new headquarters gives us the capacity to grow, strengthen partnerships and respond to emerging community needs that are essential to improving wellbeing and quality of life.”
The purchase was supported by Alex Sinclair and Nathan Moore from Ray White Commercial Bayside, whose guidance helped steer the long-planned project to completion.
Residents and community groups have welcomed the announcement, with the organisation expecting to move into the new Wynyard St premises by December.
