ONE of the Redlands Coast’s best-known pubs has officially closed its doors temporarily as work begins on a major venue transformation at Cleveland Tavern.
The venue began its full refurbishment following trade on Sunday, May 24, with management promising a completely refreshed hospitality experience while maintaining the pub’s strong connection to the local community.
Despite the extensive works, the gaming room will remain open during construction, with food and drinks still available daily.
Perched on a hillside overlooking Cleveland and the Bay Islands, the tavern has been a local gathering place for more than 20 years.
First opening its doors in 1996 as the Irish-themed Dicey Reilly’s, the venue quickly established itself as a popular destination for locals and visitors before later transitioning into Cleveland Tavern – a name reflecting its place in
the heart of the community.
The redevelopment will see the venue reconnect with its original Irish identity while introducing a refreshed new chapter for patrons.
Plans for the transformation include a full refurbishment across all areas of the tavern.
Management said the revamped venue would cater for a broad mix of patrons, including families, sporting groups, after-work crowds and long-time regulars.
From its early days as Dicey Reilly’s to its modern identity as Cleveland Tavern, the venue has remained a community staple, evolving alongside the growing Bayside region while maintaining its welcoming atmosphere.
