CLEVELAND parkrun has celebrated a major milestone, marking 13 years of free weekly community fitness events on the Redlands Coast.

Division 2 Councillor Peter Mitchell paid tribute to the hundreds of volunteers, organisers and participants who have helped make the event a long-running local success.

“Happy Birthday to Cleveland parkrun. A teenager! 13 today,” Cr Mitchell said in a social media post.

“Congratulations to every Run Director and volunteer over the 13 years. Free, weekly, volunteer run. We are lucky to have you.”

Since launching in 2013, Cleveland parkrun has become a regular fixture for runners, walkers and families, attracting participants of all ages every Saturday.

The global parkrun movement operates free timed 5km events run entirely by volunteers, encouraging people to get active in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Cr Mitchell’s post also highlighted statistics from the event’s 13-year history, reflecting the significant number of runners, volunteers and kilometres recorded since the Cleveland event first began.

The weekly event has built a strong community following, with many locals returning week after week not only for fitness but also for the social connection and support network it provides.

Cleveland parkrun continues to be held every Saturday morning, with organisers always welcoming new participants and volunteers.
