A REDLANDS teenager is just one performance away from making national music history with Harlan Goode securing a place in the Grand Final of Australian Idol.
The 19-year-old Queensland singer was voted through to the Top 3 in a tense live verdict show, putting him within reach of the 2026 title and cementing his status as one of the competition’s standout performers.
Harlan, widely dubbed the competition’s “ballad king”, delivered another powerful performance with Scared To Be Lonely, earning strong reactions from both judges and viewers as he continued his late surge toward the crown.
Moments after his name was announced, an emotional Harlan admitted the magnitude of the moment had not yet sunk in.
“I don’t think anyone can prepare you for this whole experience,” he said.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I’m so grateful to be here!”
The Top 6 episode was filled with drama, as contestants took to the stage one last time before the public vote delivered a heartbreaking result for those sent home.
Among them was Western Australia’s John Van Beek, who paid tribute to Harlan in his exit.
“Everything has been out of this world,” he said.
“I’m so happy for how far I’ve got,” he added, singling out Harlan for how much he had learned from him during the competition.
The judging panel — Marcia Hines, Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark — have repeatedly praised Harlan’s growth throughout the season.
While feedback on the night focused across all contestants, the judges have consistently highlighted the Redlands teen’s ability to connect emotionally with songs and command the stage under pressure.
Fellow finalist Kalani Artis said reaching the Grand Final had been surreal.
“I am beyond excited. This has been such a wild experience,” he said.
“This show molds people. I am speechless I can’t thank everyone enough.”
Kesha Oayda also reflected on her journey, calling it a “life-changing experience” as she thanked her supporters “from the bottom of my heart”.
Despite the strong field, Harlan now enters the final week as one of the most talked-about performers left in the competition, with strong public support behind him.
The Grand Final will air live, with performances on Monday and the winner crowned Tuesday night.
The winner will receive $100,000 in prize money, a recording package and major industry opportunities.
For Redlands, all eyes are now on Harlan — just one performance, and one vote, away from an Australian Idol breakthrough.
