Redland City Council has moved to support the early stages of a potential revitalisation of Raby Bay Marina in Cleveland, backing a proposal from a local investor to expand its footprint.
At the General Meeting on 18 March 2026, councillors resolved to support an existing adjoining landowner in seeking additional leases over key reserve land and seabed parcels from the Queensland Government.
Mayor Jos Mitchell said the decision reflected Council’s broader push to revitalise important precincts across the city, including Cleveland’s waterfront.
“Council has heard the community views that there is a greater opportunity at Raby Bay Marina to deliver improved public areas and offer additional commercial opportunities,” the Mayor said.
“Council is pleased that local developers continue to have the appetite and interest to invest in the city and, particularly, in much-loved community areas such as Raby Bay Marina.”
The proposal is still in its early stages, with the State Government responsible for any future lease approvals.
Mayor Mitchell said the local developer had flagged an intention to continue consulting with both Council and the community as plans progressed.
“It is important to note that the plan preserves the ongoing public access to the area, with Raby Bay Harbour Park not included in the lease areas,” she said.
The move signals the beginning of what could become a broader redevelopment of the marina precinct, aimed at enhancing public spaces while encouraging new commercial activity along the Cleveland foreshore.
