When Redland City Choir put on its Thankyou for the Music fundraising concert on June 17, it didn’t just give to its audience.
The concert was also an opportunity for the choir to give its donation of $5000 to the Redland Foundation.
Accepting the donation was Don Secombe. This sum brings the total donated by the choir for domestic violence relief and rehabilitation to $55,000.
Choir director Anita Taylor said the cause was close to her heart and was very proud to have this as the choir’s charitable thrust.
“Not bad for local choir, is it?” she said.
The choir celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and next year its 10th concert anniversary.
Its Thankyou for the Music event attracted an audience of about 200 and a choir of about 70.
“It was such fun. A few people in the audience said they wouldn’t miss the Christmas show after this one,” Anita said.
The next concert will be its annual White Christmas, staged at 2pm and 7pm on December 16 at RPAC.
Guest artists will be Adam Lopez, Kym Hebblewhite, Greg Moore and Graeme Kan sing Christmas pentatonix songs, Matt and Ange Shoemaker will dance some lively Christmas songs and Jacob Cavanough and the South of the River community band will join the Christmas singers with a Darkly Carolling Carol.
The O Holy Night duet will be performed by choir director Anita Taylor and her father, aged 86.
Tickets are $35 and $25 seniors, pensioners and students.
