QUEENSLAND Police data has laid bare a sharp divide between the safest and most crime-affected suburbs across Redlands and Brisbane’s Bayside in 2025.

Thorneside emerged as the region’s safest suburb, while the Mt Cotton-Redland Bay-Victoria Point corridor topped the list as the worst-affected crime hotspot.

The figures, drawn from the Queensland Police Service online crime map for the 12 months from January 5, 2025, to January 4, 2026, show more than 11,000 offences across the region.

Crime was heavily concentrated in high-growth inland suburbs and major transport and industrial hubs, while island communities and smaller bayside suburbs recorded significantly lower offence rates.

At the top end of the crime scale, the Mt Cotton-Redland Bay-Victoria Point corridor (4165) was the worst-affected area within Redlands, recording 1731 offences.

Crime peaked in October 2025 with 187 offences, with theft (519 offences) and drug offences (351) dominating.

Saturday recorded the highest level of criminal activity, with 298 offences, while midnight emerged as the peak hour, accounting for 258 offences.

The Lytton-Port of Brisbane-Wynnum-Wynnum West area (postcode 4178) recorded 1721 offences, making it the single largest hotspot across the Bayside.

Crime peaked in June 2025 with 190 offences – the highest monthly total recorded anywhere in the region.

Drug offences were a major contributor (430), alongside 455 theft offences.

Capalaba-Sheldon (4157) followed closely with 1585 offences, peaking in July 2025 with 170 incidents.

Capalaba again stood out as a theft hotspot, recording 477 theft offences, along with 334 drug offences.

Cleveland-Raby Bay (4163) also featured prominently, with 1481 offences recorded across the year.

Crime peaked in November 2025 with 163 offences, with theft (371) and drug offences (311) the leading categories.
In contrast, Thorneside (4158) was the safest suburb across the entire region, recording just 109 offences for the year.

Even at its peak in December 2025, only 16 offences were recorded.

North Stradbroke Island (4183) was among the safest areas, with 187 offences.

The highest monthly figure was 30 offences in April 2025, with good order offences (37) the most common category, and relatively low levels of theft and drug offences.

Other low-crime suburbs included Birkdale (442 offences), Ormiston-Wellington Point (519) and Thornlands (528), all recording significantly fewer incidents.

The Southern Moreton Bay Islands (4184) – including Russell, Macleay, Lamb, Karragarra and Coochiemudlo islands – recorded 828 offences, peaking at 85 offences in February

  1. Drug offences (236) and traffic-related offences (107) were notable contributors.
Across both Redlands and Brisbane’s Bayside, crime levels were consistently highest in the middle and latter parts of the year, with June, July and October emerging as peak periods.
