A family in Wynnum has been left with nothing after a house fire destroyed their home in the early hours of January 5.

The blaze on Pine Street reduced the family’s home to ashes, taking with it all of their possessions and treasured memories.

The family, described by friends as longstanding and gracious members of the Wynnum community, now face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch.

A GoFundMe page has been launched by Charlotte Bluck and friends Alyssa and Chloe to support the family.

“It is so difficult to comprehend this huge loss and their reality of waking up to the utter devastation of losing their physical home, possessions and all of their treasured memories,” Charlotte wrote.

The campaign has already raised $2,519 from 51 donations, with a target of $30,000.

Charlotte and her friends are appealing to the wider community to help however they can, whether by donating or sharing the page.

“Your generosity will go a long way to assist in this extremely challenging time,” the appeal reads.

The family’s situation highlights the sudden vulnerability faced by anyone in the wake of a disaster, and the power of community support in helping them start again.

The GoFundMe page can be found under “Pine Street Wynnum House Fire – Charlotte Bluck”.
