STAFF at the Victoria Point Sharks Sporting Club will take on a gruelling 72-hour endurance walk next month as part of a major fundraising push for the Leukaemia Foundation.

The club’s annual Laps for Leukaemia Charity Walk will run from February 12 to 15, with staff walking continuous laps of the Sharks’ sports oval for three days straight – an expansion on last year’s 48-hour event.

The extended walk is designed to help the club reach its 2026 fundraising target of $100,000, building on strong results in recent years.

Fundraising totals have climbed sharply, from $26,000 in 2024 to $80,000 in 2025.

Promotions and Marketing Manager Theresa Chapman said the event marked the first of three major fundraising initiatives for the club this year, alongside a Charity Golf Day and a Leukaemia Foundation Charity Luncheon.

“The support we received last year was overwhelming,” Ms Chapman said.

“Sharks members joined in the walk, along with committee members, affiliated sporting clubs, sponsors, supporters, family and friends.”

She said State Member for Redlands Rebecca Young and Leukaemia Foundation representative David Hancock also attended the 2025 event, underscoring the strong community backing behind the cause.

“This event is something close to all our hearts and we know our staff are going to put in a massive effort to get through to the finish line,” Ms Chapman said.

The 72-hour walk will begin at 7pm on Thursday, February 12, and conclude at 7pm on Sunday, February 15, with staff committing to keep the laps going around the clock.

Ms Chapman said the club’s team was determined to meet the $100,000 target this year and continue its growing support for the Leukaemia Foundation.
