SHERIFF wasn’t interested in handing out warnings as the flying chaser enforced his authority from box rise to the finish line arresting the Group 3 Terry Hill Straight of Origin Invitational with a dominant seven-length victory at Capalaba on Sunday afternoon.
Starting the $1.50 favourite over the Bayside 366m straight, the Jedda Cutlack-trained speedster exploded from the boxes and was never headed, stopping the clock in a slick 19.04 seconds to claim the $63,500 feature.
The son of Zack Monelli and Shishkin quickly established control with Amarta ($9.50) the closest challenger in the early stages.
But Sheriff soon broke the race open, travelling strongly out wide before extending his advantage to four lengths and powering clear to the line.
Amarta finished second while Storms Will Roll rounded out the placings.
The victory further cemented Sheriff’s outstanding record at Capalaba improving his tally to nine wins and two placings from just 11 starts over the track and distance while surpassing $90,000 in career prizemoney.
Sheriff is from one of Queensland’s most accomplished litters.
Littermate Soiree has banked more than $339,000 in prizemoney while Surrealist ($76,730) and Electrify ($77,653) have also enjoyed successful careers highlighting the strength of the Zack Monelli x Shishkin breeding.
