An international Scottish cricketer has joined the Redlands Tigers ranks after touching down in Queensland.

The 20-year-old is player number 695 to pull on the Tiger’s baggy green after his first-grade debut last weekend.

The young cricketer plays as a medium fast bowler and made his international debut in February where he represented Scotland against Nepal.

Jarvis was also named in Scotland’s 15-member squad for the 2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

Redlands Tigers president Sean Lloyd said he was thrilled to have someone with Jack’s level of skill and experience wearing the Tiger’s colours.

“Although he is a young fella, he is very humble and has a stable head on his shoulders,” he said

“We expect to see some great results from him when he gets the ball in his hand.”

Lloyd said Jarvis was one of the first overseas players to join the club this season.

“We have a program connected with the UK and Scotland to enable us to look after our Scottish imports that come across,” he said.

“It is a great experience for them, and they are able to offer their skills by coaching and help upskill the local Redlands talent as well.”

Lloyd said the Scottish cricketer had been willing to offer a helping hand around the club.

“He has also been given opportunities to jump in and participate in our Tigers coaching which provides coaching within our affiliate clubs around the Redlands,” he said.

“I think kids of all ages will greatly benefit not only from the Tigers but having an international in there as well coaching our programs.”

Lloyd said Jarvis had fit in well with the club and found himself a home even before he was picked in the first-grade squad.

“He took on the club enthusiastically and wanted to be around the club with a lot of jobs,” he said.

“We really appreciate his working effort around the club so far and we hope that will rub off on his playing with us this season.”
