WYNNUM Wolves finished their NPL Queensland 2025 campaign on a high with a 2–1 away win over Brisbane Roar Youth in the final round on Saturday night.

The visitors dominated the first half, racking up nine shots with five on target, and should have been out of sight before finally breaking the deadlock on the stroke of half-time.

Lucas Martin slipped a neat pass into the box for Jez Lofthouse, who side-footed home to give Wolves a deserved lead.

Lofthouse struck again nine minutes into the second half, finishing off a neat move that started from the back.

Martin was again the provider, playing in Lofthouse who dinked the ball over the goalkeeper with a cool finish.

The Roar pulled one back on the hour mark when Aaron Morris scrambled home at the back post from a corner, setting up a tense finale.

Wolves, however, held firm at the back to secure a welcome three points on the road.

The result lifted Wolves to seventh on the final ladder with 27 points, level with Brisbane City and Gold Coast United but ahead on goal difference.

Roar Youth finished 10th on 22 points, five clear of the drop.

Moreton City Excelsior were crowned Minor Premiers, finishing five points clear of Queensland Lions, with Peninsula Power and Eastern Suburbs rounding out the top four.

Sunshine Coast Wanderers ended the season bottom of the table while St George Willawong were also demoted.
