BOOKS are set to become gateways to adventure – and prizes – as the Redlands Coast Summer Reading Challenge returns for another year.

Redland City Mayor Jos Mitchell said this year’s challenge, run by Redland City Council Libraries, was themed around the ability of books to transport readers to strange and wonderful worlds.

“Books have the power to engage our imaginations and take us on exciting adventures,” the Mayor said.

“The official 2025 reading challenge booklet will allow you to track your reading progress as you complete activities that could earn you Prize Portal entries.”

The challenge officially began on Monday, coinciding with the start of summer.

Participants can pick up an official booklet from any Redland City Council Library or the Mobile Library from December 1 and start earning entries in a range of ways – from completing booklet activities to taking part in weekly in-library challenges.

Library-goers can also hunt for secret clues hidden around branches, including the coveted “Golden Key”, which unlocks additional prize entry opportunities.

Completed entry forms are placed into the Prize Portals located in each library.

Weekly lucky dip winners will be announced on the Libraries’ Facebook page, with all entries going into the grand prize draw on Monday, February 2.

Entry to the challenge is free, and full library details are available on Council’s website.
