MEN in the Redlands are turning up in growing numbers to a weekly support circle aimed at helping locals build healthier relationships, stronger self awareness and safer communities.

The Redlands Men’s Integration Group, part of the ManKind Project Queensland, meets every Monday night at the Redlands Community Centre.

The group has been running for just a year but is already seeing record attendance, with up to 13 men joining recent sessions, a significant jump for a new circle.

ManKind Project Queensland President and Redlands representative Tom Caruso said the group wasn’t about portraying men as uniquely burdened, but about encouraging responsibility, reflection and safer behaviour.

“We see men who want to understand themselves better, improve how they show up in relationships, and build healthier connections,” he said.

“It’s a structured, judgement-free space where men can talk honestly and be held accountable.”

The ManKind Project began in the US in the 1980s and expanded to Australia in 2000 and today it runs dozens of circles nationwide, including nine across Queensland.

Each circle follows a set format – men check in, make commitments, explore personal issues and reflect on how their behaviour affects others.

The aim is to help men recognise patterns, unpack past experiences and develop tools to engage more safely and respectfully in their everyday lives.

The Redlands group has around eight regular attendees, with others joining occasionally, most participants are aged between 25 and 55, although any man aged 18 and over is welcome.

Mr Caruso said many come seeking clarity, connection or support during life transitions, but the broader goal is community wellbeing.

The project’s major program, the New Warrior Training Adventure, will run again in mid-November, offering a deeper, guided “hero’s journey” for men wanting more intensive personal development.

The Redlands circle meets Mondays at 7pm.
