Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce
THE Redlands Coast Chamber of Commerce has been officially appointed by the Queensland Government as the tender-winning contract holder to deliver the Regional Jobs Committee (RJC) program for the Redlands region from 2025 through to October 2027.
The announcement places Redlands among only 12 regions statewide selected to lead the revitalised RJC initiative, which focuses on strengthening local workforce capability and supporting long-term employment outcomes.
The Chamber, which has already delivered five years of successful RJC activity, says the renewed two-year term provides certainty to continue building on the strong foundations already in place.
Chamber representatives say the appointment recognises the Redlands Coast as a growing economic hub with unique workforce needs and significant opportunity for skills development.
Current RJC Chairperson Des Kerr and Project Manager Kate Adams have both been confirmed to continue in their roles, bringing continuity, experience and established relationships across industry and government.
An Expression of Interest process will soon open for incoming RJC Committee Members and Ambassadors, who will help drive a locally led, evidence-based approach to workforce planning.
Over the next two years, the Redlands Regional Jobs Committee will focus on several key priorities:
- Strengthening connections between local employers and training partners to address workforce challenges.
- Tackling skills shortages across priority industries.
- Supporting job creation, apprenticeships and traineeships.
- Developing clearer pathways for young people and jobseekers.
- Enhancing collaboration between business, government, training providers and local schools.
Minister for Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Ros Bates said: “The Regional Jobs Committee program will draw on local expertise, to address local needs, and create the jobs which will underpin a better lifestyle for Queenslanders through a stronger economy.”
These initiatives aim to boost employment participation and ensure Redlands residents have access to the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in this economy.
The Chamber expressed its gratitude to government partners, stakeholders and the broader community for their continued support, saying the next phase of the RJC will further strengthen jobs, training and economic resilience across the Redlands Coast.
