THE Redlands community is getting ready to celebrate our local volunteering heroes, and everyone is invited.
On Saturday, May 16, the Redlands Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) in Cleveland will come alive for Community Celebration 2026, marking National Volunteer Week (May 18-24) with an afternoon that puts local heroes front and centre.
It will be a spectacular afternoon dedicated to connection, joy and purpose.
Entry is free, so no one misses out.
Now in its sixth year, this much anticipated and loved event is a celebration of our community spirit, offering a fun-filled afternoon packed with activities, laughter, and live entertainment to help shine a spotlight on the incredible volunteers who make our community thrive.
From 2pm to 6.30pm, enjoy a lively program of performances for all ages.
The afternoon kicks off with the stirring sounds of the Redlands Sporting Club Pipe Band, followed by local favourites including the U3A Performance Group, Strictly Dance Group, Here’s to Life and the Birkdale Men’s Shed.
There’ll also be a magic show by Johnny the Jester and the high-energy beats of the UQ Taiko Japanese drummers, with Nicci Hope as the MC.
The outdoors will come alive with colour, movement, and delight with stilt walkers, giant bubble performers, bouncy castle, face painting and even a petting zoo – all for a simple gold coin donation.
Visitors can browse market stalls, connect with community organisations, or simply soak up the festive atmosphere.
The Volunteer of the Year Awards will shine a well-deserved spotlight on those making a real difference with their passion and dedication.
The day will wrap up with a spectacular laser show, lighting up the Redlands sky in a fitting finale to a celebration of community spirit.
Bring your family and friends, join in the fun, and celebrate everything that makes our community so special.
The event is hosted by STAR Community Services and Volunteering Redlands and sponsored by Redland City Council, McGrath, GWH Dental, Alex Gow Funerals, Oldmac Toyota, Fidelity Hearing, Mr Fireworks and RetireAustralia.
