RESIDENTS will be able to choose their own adventures during the inaugural Redlands Coast AdventureFest being held over 10 days from May 16-25.

AdventureFest will be delivered by Redland City Council to showcase Redlands Coast as an adventure destination.

Activities include Council-organised events along with city-wide activations, community events and offers from tourism operators.

It will include active and outdoors events showcasing the bay, islands, mountains and conservation reserves, including a triathlon, a tree- climbing competition for arborists, trail run, mountain biking event and hillclimbing.

For those seeking more relaxed adventures, there will be a water lantern festival, culinary adventures, art workshops, museum tours, feature talks, night sky viewing and guided walks.

Council’s main event will be an AdventureFest Fun Day at Raby Bay Harbour Park on Saturday, May 17 from 10am to 5pm.

The Fun Day will offer adventure, entertainment and rides celebrating the festival’s key themes: active, family, artistic, nature, culinary and wellness adventures.

The entertainment on stage will include The Idol Family, which consists of three members of the same family – Chris Ah Gee, JaZZella and Jinja Blue, who each secured spots in the Top 30 in this year’s Australian Idol.

Other performers include Brisbane musician Daniel J. Lewis and local dream-rock band Lucid Safari.

There will be plenty of other activities for all ages at the event, including adventure sports demonstrations, a jetpack water show and wildlife presentations.

There will also be celebrity interviews by Ranger Stacey Thomson, culinary experiences, kids’ activities, mini games, information stalls and giveaways.

There are also events held at Council libraries, Redland Performing Arts Centre, Redlands IndigiScapes Centre and Redland Art Gallery.

The AdventureFest program includes Caxton Classic Golf Tournament, Straddie Salute Triathlon Festival, ISA Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Competition for Arborists, Queensland Hillclimb Championships, Water Lantern Festival, Bayview Blast, Family Fun Day at PGL Kindilan, Explore King Island with Ranger Stacey, Twilight at the Museum, and Discover Koalas in the Wild with Ranger Stacey and the Detection Dogs.
