Tidbold Real Estate sold a property on their very first day and have not looked back since, with the business celebrating its 20-year anniversary earlier this year.

The founders of Tidbold Real Estate, Dave and Nicki Tidbold, launched the business working at home with no office and off their own bat in 2003.

Mr Tidbold said he door-knocked more than 6000 homes and listed 12 properties in the first three months of business.

“We were a whole new agency, totally independent with no franchise,” he said.

Tidbold Real Estate has now been operating for 20 years. It is the only estate agency in Redlands that does not have a rent roll and is purely sales focused.

“One of our major focuses is that our customer relationship is built and maintained,” Mr Tidbold said.

“We want to earn that trust with our clients because people just don’t give it to a real estate agent.

“Our success is from putting the customers’ needs ahead of our own and making sure we provide the best service.”

Mr Tidbold said selling real estate had changed in a lot of areas, particularly with the emergence technology.

“When we started, we didn’t even have the internet and when people used to tell me what house they wanted, I would drive them around to show and educate them on the area,” he said.

“Now, when people come to us, they have already viewed the property they want online and have looked at hundreds of videos and photos.

“When people inspect the house, they’re ultimately having their second inspection.”

Mr Tidbold said Redlands provided the best of both worlds for residents.

“We have the waterfront properties, and we have the bush and acreage,” he said.

“We also have people who can have their first home, whether it’s a unit or a house, and people who can have their last home by downsizing to ultimately stay in the Redlands their whole life.”
