THE Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games are not just a sporting spectacle – they represent a golden opportunity for Queensland businesses.

With an estimated $180 billion in government procurement opportunities between now and 2032, this is a chance for businesses of all sizes to secure contracts and contribute to one of the largest events this state has ever seen.

The Queensland Government, through its Buy Queensland 2023 strategy, is committed to ensuring that the economic benefits of hosting the Games are maximised and shared among Queenslanders.

Local businesses and regional economies will be supported, as will the creation of quality, secure, and ongoing jobs.

The Games will also give a significant boost to the state’s economy and leave a lasting positive legacy for future generations.

Whether you’re a small business in construction or a larger company in hospitality or tech, the Games’ extensive supply chain offers countless opportunities.

The Queensland Government prioritises local suppliers, so businesses can rest assured that procurement dollars will stay within the state.

All Olympic-related contracts will be listed on QTenders (qtenders.epw.qld.gov.au), making it essential for businesses to register and stay updated.

To take part, businesses will need to meet certain standards, including workplace health and safety (WHS), sustainability, and ethical procurement regulations, such as compliance with modern slavery laws and reducing environmental impact.

The MyGamesPlan tool is a valuable resource for businesses to assess their readiness and access the support they need to stay compliant.

Brisbane 2032 is set to be a climate-positive Games, focusing on green energy, waste reduction, and ethical sourcing.

Businesses aligned with these sustainability goals will have a competitive advantage.
